Well, it seems that Cut Tari has confessed through her lawyer, Hotman Paris, that she is in fact in one of the celebrity sex tapes that have recently done the rounds of the internet. The videos apparently still remain a staple on office computers and phones ensuring that the scandal remains in the public domain.
The alleged reason for leaving the confirmation of her part in the tape was to ensure that she did not preempt or get ahead of the police investigation. This should be read as she was calling the police's bluff and wanting to see whether or not they could prove it was her. If they could not, then no need to confess. However, if the police could prove it was her then she could easily confess at some later point. Nevertheless, the denials up to the point where it becomes impossible to refute the mounting evidence (no pun intended) can always be attributed to an attempt to avoid the shame or humiliation that tends to attach themselves to these sorts of scandals.
Interestingly, Hotman suggested that Cut Tari did not know that she was being filmed. He went onto suggest that men were renowned for video-taping their sexual escapades, quite often on mobile phones and usually without the knowledge of their female partners. Hotman went onto say that Cut Tari had never seen the video, kept it, or distributed it. I can accept, and even believe, that she had not seen the video before the scandal broke. I can believe she did not have a copy of it. And, I can believe that she is not responsible for the distribution of it. Although, I would suggest that she has seen the video now.
A concern is that the Cut Tari tape, in contrast to the Luna Maya one, seems to have been produced using a small handy-cam and not a mobile phone. The image quality is so much better (so I am told) and it does not seem to have been shot through a key hole or using some kind of peeping technology. It is hard to reconcile the video with the idea that Cut Tari was not aware that she was being filmed. Perhaps the court case, assuming it goes that far, will reveal all.
I guess Cut Tari's confession means that it is now a little bit harder for Ariel to deny he is the male star of the video.

Rob,
Good points. I would like to add that Cut Tary is very lucky because her husband has been very kind that he didn't asked the police to charge her with adultery (delik aduan).
Harry...
I have been following, but perhaps not closely enough. What is the time line for the video? Is it something that was produced after her marriage or before it?
Yes, perhaps she is lucky that her husband has yet to go that route. Is there a 'statute of limitations' on him doing so. For example, once he knows about the adultery, is he required to lodge the complaint within a certain time frame?
Now, with a name like Cut Tari, there has to be an Aceh blood link in there somewhere. It is probably a good thing that she is not resident there, isn't it?
Although, perhaps it would be an interesting test case to see how far Acehnese provincial regulations (Qanun) can reach. Do they only apply to "crimes" committed in Aceh or can they cover any Acehnese citizen wherever they reside and commit the crime?
Ho Hum...
I might add, considering what is happening in Iran right now with an adultery case, Cut Tari might be lucky in a whole lot of ways that she is Indonesian and not Iranian!
Interestingly, Hotman suggested that Cut Tari did not know that she was being filmed.
I saw a bit of this video (I think I did anyway) and if my mammary serves me right she was fully aware that it was being videoed.
@ Pearl...
I would never confess to such a thing as having watched any of this amateur skin flick. But, from what I have heard, it seems unlikely that she was not aware in this case.
I would have thought that now the acknowledgement has been made that it is in fact her in the tape that she go the whole nine yards and tell the whole story (or perhaps this might be a paid exclusive to a magazine down the track?)
Very effective material, thank you for this post.
