Muslims Against Sharia

There is definitely a need to learn more about groups purporting to represent the interests of others. Muslims Against Sharia have "arrived" on the scene and it will not be too long before the to and fro starts on whether they really are Muslims or just part of a broader Zionist conspiracy about Islam and what exactly is it that they represent.

Any attempt to reform Islam has traditionally been looked on with distrust and the fact that the Muslims Against Sharia site has a dedicated email address for death threats is an interesting way of dealing with any backlash, real or imagined.

Just a little bit of reading uncovered that some of their associations and contributors are neo-conservatives and other right-wingers. Does this discredit the positions adopted by Muslims Against Sharia, No! But it does beg the question why weren't these associations disclosed up front?

I guess time will tell and history will judge.

Interesting symbol though all the same.

very interesting..

i believe, or shall i say, i predict..the movement in Indonesia will be lead by Ulil Abshal Abdala of JIL. Already he is criticized for being too conservative by some of JIL member. he is, i would categorize as the liberalist that turn to the right. haha, very nice career movement :)

when i read their website, i can't stand but smirking, smiling and laughing.
religion surely is making life more interesting.

hahaha.
(keep on observing this Rob, this wakes me up :D )

"But it does beg the question why weren't these associations disclosed up front?"

We have both Conservatives and Liberals as contributors to our blog. They openly post their articles; their names/nicks are posted on our blog profile. We talked about them in several interviews. How much more disclosure do you expect? We must be some dumb Zionist conspiracy to have Pamela Geller and Ted Bellman post articles on our blog under their own names, don't you think?

Muslims Against Sharia...

"up front" was the key here and this disclosure has been made subsequently!

Merely making a point to which you have responded.

I am always open to correction and clarification. I am also open to frank and vigourous debate!

"disclosure has been made subsequently!"

That is not true. As soon as anyone joins our contributor list, his/her name/nick is immediately available on our blog profile. Nobody is allowed to post under "Muslims Against Sharia" nick if they are not members of the "Muslims Against Sharia", and as you can see, majority of our contributors are NOT members of the "Muslims Against Sharia".

As a matter of interest is there a name attached to the Muslims Against Sharia commentator on this subject so far?

Khalim Massoud

Thanks!

You're the "Main Man" right?

Future translations will include Indonesian how far away is the translated product?

Is Indonesia a priority in light of the fact it is the world's most populous Muslim nation (not to be read as Islamic State)?

I am interesed in seeing how you see the movement for reform in and of Islam going forward? I am sure that there will be powerful forces that will align against you.

How do you convince people, particularly Muslims, that they can come out and speak their mind in light of the clear threat that "Islamo-Facists" provide?

Some people will always have the courage to confront their oppressors, but can this movement make this a majority position rather than a minority one?

By the way, I will keep reading your site, irrespective of what others say! It is always worthwhile reading the other side of the debate, particularly if one wants to contribute constructively to it or to change!

But Khalim, don't get your knickers in a knot because I am not anti-Muslims Against Sharia. My comment on learning more really was one about learning who the group is, what their agenda is, the programs they are involved, in and blah blah blah...I am doing this in my own way and own time!

Thanks for dropping by and clarifying and correcting any misperceptions of MASh...

- I am the president, but we all have equal voices.

Future translations will include Indonesian how far away is the translated product?

- Still looking for a volunteer

Is Indonesia a priority in light of the fact it is the world's most populous Muslim nation (not to be read as Islamic State)?

- Our first priority is to stop Western support for radical Islam.

I am interesed in seeing how you see the movement for reform in and of Islam going forward?

- keep watching our blog

How do you convince people, particularly Muslims, that they can come out and speak their mind in light of the clear threat that "Islamo-Facists" provide?

- inevitability of global caliphate if they don't

Some people will always have the courage to confront their oppressors, but can this movement make this a majority position rather than a minority one?

- I don't know if we can do it, but we definitely can try
