Jessup 2009

The UPH team has performed admirably and reached the final rounds of the Jessup competition. Unfortunately, we were defeated by a team from Colombia.

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Competition is the most prestigious of all law moot competitions and it is therefore quite an achievement to reach the final rounds. It would have been nice to have gone a little further still. However, I am proud of the team's achievement as no one expected them to do this well.

They will be better for the experience and will one day be exceptional lawyers and advocates.

sure hope you're not in that water that's flowing so readily around there.

Rob, a chunk of ancient dam has broken in Jakarta.
I can't get anybody from the area to return word!

Out Tangerang way, West Jakarta. I am still in DC so I am not so up-to-date on the disaster.

Perhaps you could check the Jakarta Post or the Jakarta Globe for English language news.

here's how the stupid paper reads:

Dam Bursts Near Jakarta, Killing at Least 58 People

March 27 (Bloomberg) -- A dam burst near Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, killing at least 58 people and leaving more than 100 missing as hundreds of houses were under as much as 2 meters (6.6 feet) of water, government officials said.

and, of course, we know how open and honest thhe gov is, sometimes...

Me and mine live in East Jakarta.

This is some distance from the dam.

Anita of Finally Woken fame lives in Scotland I think (at least this is what I get from her blog).

Not sure on the treespotter.

boneman, actually that's not too far away from where i live and i was stuck for a full day (i'm totally fine and my house is totally unaffected but all the routes out were blocked either by stinky water, dead bodies or insane traffic. so i stayed home and play games).
