Football's Worst Ever Miss?

This comes from the 2010 Asian Games. The game is a quaterfinal match between Qatar and Uzbekistan. The young man that misses the golden opportunity is Fahad Khalfan. What makes this miss extra special is that it happened in extra time and ultimately Qatar lost the match 1-0.

You have to feel sorry for this young man, don't you?

Enjoy!

The Physics of Penalty Kicks...

It is better to be safe than sorry, right?

I used to play soccer when I was a kid, but pretty much stopped when they started calling it football. I have taken a few penalty kicks in my time. I have not seen one like this before.

Enjoy!

Metro TV, Porn, and KPI Sanctions...

Oops!

Metro TV has 'mistakenly' broadcast some rather graphic images during its morning news program. The offending footage was associated with a news piece about a raid on an internet cafe in East Java. Unfortunately for the station and the news editors, someone has missed a close up of a computer screen that had not been pixelated to remove the images.

The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) has decided that the most appropriate sanction is to pull the program from the airwaves for a week and require the station to broadcast an apology three times a day for three days.

I cannot work out whether the station was fined as well. However, a fine and an apology would probably have been sufficient. Pulling the program for a week seems a little like overkill to me by a KPI that is hungry for attention, and in need to justify its existence.

Mosques Facing the Wrong Way -- Indonesia

The Ministry of Religion has done a survey of Mosques in Indonesia and has determined that at least 20% of them are getting worshipers to face in the wrong direction. Muslims are required to face Mecca when they pray no matter where on the globe (or presumably in the galaxy) they are.

It seems that the majority of the Mosques that are in error are also located in areas that have frequently suffered earthquakes. Nevertheless, the Ministry has suggested that rather than wholesale renovations, or the tearing down of Mosques, that the responsible parties make the necessary corrections by informing worshipers that they need to face in a slightly different direction in order to be facing Mecca.

The Ministry survey team relied on the use of GPS devices to plot the exact location of Mecca relevant to each Mosque.

This "oops" moment follows close on the heels of a statement from Mutoha Arkanuddin, an Islamic scholar, who claimed that as many as 80% of Indonesian mosques and graves (for Muslims) were not facing in the 'right' direction.

I am not a Muslim, so I really do not know how big a deal this is in the big scheme of things. But, I would imagine that if you were the family member of a Muslim whose grave was facing in the wrong direction, the you are like to be a little concerned about what this means for your deceased loved one.

I wonder if there is going to be widespread exhuming and repositioning of loved ones with the use of GPS?

Innocent Explanations...

I am sure that this is not what it seems. There is undoubtedly an innocent explanation for a gestation period that is seemingly at least 12 months in duration.

Either that or daddy will undoubtedly have some questions that he might need answered.

So You Think You Can Dance? With No Panties...Oops!

You really have to wonder why you would go on a television show without any panties on. You have to wonder about this even more when it is a dancing reality TV show. Yet, this is what happened. And this is the video to prove it.

The show might be a reality TV show, but it is not live to air. So, you have also got to be wondering how this little piece of footage made it through the editing process. It would not have been all that surprising if the choice footage was edited out, and then mysteriously found its way on to YouTube or LiveLeak or something. I found it on The Huffington Post.

Looks like Fox could be in for some pretty nasty fines. I am guessing that the Federal Communications Commission, or the FCC, might be taking a closer look at the footage. And, when they do there is likely to be some sizable fine discussed. Now if Janet Jackson's nipple cost USD 550K, then I am guessing a full view crotch shot has gotta cost a little more than that.

I wonder how old she is? Are there child porn issues here? The mind boggles.

However, Fox has issued a statement saying that the young lady is, in fact, wearing panties and the video and accompanying photos show a crease in her panties...Ah, good try Fox.

Facebook -- Dangerous?

Have you ever wondered how embarrassing or dangerous Facebook can be? If you have not, or even if you have, then this will most definitely be of interest to you.

This is certainly going to be a WTF have I done. But, in any event, Michael sounds like the man!
